Ibn Haldun University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (İHU TÖMER) officially commenced its operations in December 2017. In line with our university's "trilingualism" policy, our center provides Turkish language education to international students, who constitute 37% of our student body, and supports them in acquiring the written and spoken language proficiency they need during their university education.
İHU TÖMER's mission is to enable individuals from all over the world to use Turkish effectively in both their academic and social lives, to develop contemporary language teaching methods, and to strengthen intercultural interaction through socio-cultural events.
Our center organizes courses not only for international students and staff within the university but also for anyone wishing to learn Turkish on campus. Furthermore, it aims to contribute to scientific studies in the field of Turkish language teaching by providing a research and application area for academic and administrative staff, and to carry out academic activities at national and international levels.
Turkish Language Teaching at İHU TÖMER
The academic calendar at İHU TÖMER consists of six modules, starting in September and ending in August. These modules, each lasting 7 weeks, are structured at A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1 levels. All levels are prepared in accordance with the European Language Portfolio (ELP) criteria.
Starting from the B1 level, students also begin receiving academic reading and writing training. Students wishing to enroll in intermediate levels are subject to a Placement Test.
In addition to the preparatory program, the İHU TÖMER teaching staff also conducts credit/non-credit Turkish courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Turkish training for other foreign language instructors, Turkish courses within the scope of the İHU Summer School Language Program, and Turkish courses for daily use.
