İHU TÖMER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Registration Process

Firstly, you should obtain an Acceptance Certificate from İbn Haldun University TÖMER. You need to apply for a "Turkish Language Learning Visa" at the Turkish Embassy in your country, completing the required documents requested by the embassy. After arriving in Turkey, you must apply for course registration at İbn Haldun University TÖMER. Finally, you should apply for a Turkish Language Learning Residence Permit at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in the city where you are located.

After filling out the TÖMER Registration Form, you need to upload the required documents to the system.

* Scanned copy of the passport or ID card.

* If available, a scanned copy of the proficiency certificate.

* Bank receipt confirming the payment (The explanation section of the bank transaction should include "İHU TÖMER, Name-Surname" during the payment.)

Students registered at our center cannot benefit from facilities such as discounted transportation cards and student cafeterias since they  are officially referred to as course participants. However, with the student certificate provided by our center, they can access museums and libraries.

Courses

No, you can take courses at İHU TÖMER without being a student at İbn Haldun University.

No, students enrolling in TÖMER must present the certificate from the last completed course. Additionally, all students take a placement test before classes start, and based on the test results, they are directed to the appropriate level.

Each module lasts for 7 weeks, and classes are held from 09:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday (only until 12:00 on Fridays, and online).

The "Yeni İstanbul" book is used as a source in the classes.

It is planned for all classes from beginner to advanced levels to be conducted face-to-face. However, we also offer online course options.

Our classes consist of a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 students.

At the end of each course, there is a final exam. The Final Exam assesses the four basic language skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking). Students who pass the exam and are deemed successful in the overall evaluation proceed to the next level, while those who fail have the option to repeat the course.

Yes. At the end of each course, upon your request, you will be provided with a certificate indicating the level you have successfully completed.

No, classes are not held on national and religious holidays in Turkey if they coincide with official working days. These holidays include:

October 29 Republic Day of Turkey

January 1 New Year's Day

April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day

May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day

May 19 Atatürk Memorial, Youth and Sports Day

July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day

August 30 Victory Day

Campus

Our classes will take place at the School of Languages building on the Ibn Haldun University Başakşehir Campus.

You can reach the campus by metro or Marmaray. There are shuttle services from Halkalı (the last station of Marmaray) and 'Metrokent' (the last station of the metro) stations of İHU in the early morning, noon, and evening.

Additionally, we have shuttle services specifically for İHU TÖMER students from Kayaşehir and Başakşehir to the campus and vice versa.

Payments and Continuity

Payments should be made in full before registration.

There is no installment payment option available.

To learn about the course fee, you can visit our office or contact us through our contact information.

Discounts are applied to package courses, families, groups, and active students of Ibn Haldun University.

*Active students of Ibn Haldun University receive a 50% discount on the regular prices.

You can pay the course fee in US Dollars, Euros, or Turkish Lira.

You should deposit the course fee into the bank accounts, which you can find out by visiting our office or contacting us through our contact information and fill out the provided explanation in the indicated manner. The receipt for the pre-registration payment must be submitted during registration.

Course fee refunds are only possible in the following cases. Otherwise, no refunds are made:

- The student has a documented illness preventing attendance.

- Foreign national students, with documented proof, are required to leave Turkey due to a residence permit rejection.

Refunds for package course fees cover all unused courses and are calculated based on the full fee. A student can freeze the course by submitting a petition within the first week. If a student leaves the course from the second week onwards, they are considered to have attended the course.

Yes, there is an 80% attendance requirement for each course. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement are not allowed to take the course completion exam and cannot proceed to the next level. No refund is given to students who do not meet the attendance requirement.

You need to apply to our center with a petition containing the reasons for your refund request. If the request and reasons are deemed appropriate by the board of directors, the remaining fee will be calculated and refunded in full, deducting legal deductions. Course fee refunds, as mentioned above, are only processed in the name and account of the person who made the payment. İHU TÖMER is not responsible for situations where the payment account is closed or unusable within the process. Course fees are not affected by increases in hourly rates after the date the contract is signed.

A student can freeze the course by submitting a petition within the first week. If a student leaves the course from the second week onwards, they are considered to have attended the course.

No, you cannot transfer your course rights to another person or people.

Turkish Language Proficiency Exam

Anyone who wants to document their Turkish language proficiency can take the Turkish Proficiency Exam.

Yes. Turkish proficiency certificates issued by Turkish language teaching centers affiliated with higher education institutions, accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), are valid at all universities.

Distance Education

Distance education courses are conducted using the Zoom program.
