TURKISH LANGUAGE TEACHING  CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IN KAZAKHSTAN

The need for instructor training in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and the intense demand for the field have made the training carried out in Turkey necessary in geographies that have crossed borders. In this context, it is planned to provide educator training in teaching Turkish as a foreign language to instructors who teach the Turkish language in Kazakhstan. The program aims to transfer the teaching techniques of the Turkish language to the instructors with the acquisition of a standard teaching plan by using both today's technology and academic studies interactively. Increasing intercultural interaction as a result of the certificate program is also among the goals.

 

Application Criteria:

Those who have graduated from Turkish-related undergraduate and graduate programs of universities in Kazakhstan or 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students in these departments (Turkology, Turkish Language and Literature, Turkish Language Teaching, Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures, etc.) and teachers who provide education in the field. If a participant has graduated from another language program, they must present a C1 level language proficiency certificate obtained from the Yunus Emre Institute or centers for Turkish language instruction at universities in Turkey. The quota is limited to 30 people. The application acceptance conditions of the participants will be evaluated and approved by the program coordination.

Start and End Dates: 04.11.2024 -29.11.2024

 

Duration and Hours of Training: 4 weeks - 80 hours (60 hours theoretical lecture / 10 hours video lecture / 10 hours sample lecture)

Location of Training: The first three weeks of the theoretical part of the program will be conducted online via Zoom (04.11.2024-22.11.2024) and the one week of the practical part will be conducted face-to-face at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan (25-29.11.2024). Online training will be conducted on the Canvas and Zoom platforms.

 

Class Start and End Times: 15.00-18.00 (Turkey time)

 

Class Observation: There will be a total of 10 hours of class observation. Participants will perform the tasks assigned to them by watching the video lecture recordings defined for them asynchronously.

 

Sample Lecture and Practice:

Participants will prepare to present a specific topic/skill/outcome on the date and time notified to them. Beforehand, they share the lesson plan that they will apply in the lesson in detail in writing with their instructors. During the presentation in the 4th week, which will be conducted face-to-face, instructors will observe and take notes. Then these reports are evaluated and the result is shared with the participants.

 

Attendance Requirement: There is an attendance requirement of 80% for online courses and 80% for classroom observation.

 

Exam: Participants who meet the attendance requirement for theoretical lessons and practices will take a multiple-choice exam. The grade for successful completion of the program is 70. The score obtained from this exam will affect the passing grade of the participant by 40%. The effect of sample lectures on the passing grade is 40% and the effect of class participation on the passing grade is 20%.

 

Certificate / Document: Participants who attend 80% of the total course duration and pass the exams held within the scope of the training content are entitled to receive a "Certificate of Achievement" signed by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities and Ibn Haldun University TÖMER. Participants who do not meet the 80% attendance requirement and do not take the exam or do not participate in the demo course are given a Certificate of Participation.

 

Lecture Notes: Online lectures will be recorded throughout the program and video recordings will be available to the participants. In addition, the lecture notes of the lecturers who give lectures throughout the program will be turned into an electronic book and shared with the participants.
